Default LOL. Enjoy.

You are wise to step back and rest.

You *will* need the special tool for the cam adjuster/tensioner seals. The tool compresses the tensioner so you can get the seal out. Someone nearby you should have one (they're cheap), so post on your local forum if you need to borrow one.

Default So what should he do? Just throw them away? :P

If he already has the seals, he must as well install them.

Default I've never used the special installation tool, but I suspect it takes more care to use something

generic like my PVC union.

Main thing is you don't want to flip the lip when installing the seal but don't be tempted to lube the shaft to get the seal up there.

Default I have inspected the crank surface & found nothing but a smooth surface. The vacuum level...

was measured on the inlet to the suction pump that attaches to the left breather hose at ~17.5 in Hg. From what I have read on-line, that vacuum level is good. The engine only has 69.5K miles on the dial, and never been abused so there is no reason why that seal should weep oil. Given your experience, you have any ideas re: what to inspect that I haven't?

Once I resolve this problem, I will post a complete description and the solution(s) for this PIA problem.

Default Quick check, remove the oil cap while it's running...there should be a slight suction...

...if there isn't or if it's pressurized, you likely have a breather problem.

Default They all leak, esp the cam adjuster gaskets, No special tools

Be careful not to nick your cam journals, I used a small drill to start a whole for two small screws placed 180 deg apart. Then pull on the screws to remove the seal. To install the seal use an appropiate size PVC pipe and tap in flush.
