I've had difficulty in the past with a passenger side sprocket but not to the degree you seem to be having. I used a puller and made sure the pin was dead center on the sprocket bolt and that the jaws didn't shift in any way to assure it "pulled" straight as possible. It did eventually pop but sounded like a gun going off when it did.

If they can spin free, they should basically fall off.

they're spinning free, but not falling off. i'll try using the puller again to see if they'll come off any farther.

ilsaccente: this is probably too late but I am going to be tackling the same task on my 2.7T s-line. I am buying the kit from:

http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=GH21113-1A

And renting the timing belt tool kit from them also:

http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=N1A1009-D

Here is the details:

http://www.blauparts.com/audi/audi_t...ool_kits.shtml

That way, I have all the tools i need to do the J-O-B..

I am sure you have already completed the task and I am probably going to get the no **** duma$$ comments but.... oh well.

I hope you got it all back together and in working order.

JB

LOL - the little plates that the tool attaches to are stuck on the shaft. Just pop them off with a screwdriver.

i saw that, but i was told that the parts from ecs were better quality for a better price, and their kits included more. they sent me the locking pin and lock bar, but not the sprocket puller. my a6 is still in my garage in pieces, tonight i'm going to tackle it once again

i got the sprockets off and im ready to put everything back together and get it running, but i cannot for the life of me get the old cam seals (sprocket side) out. ive damaged one pretty bad trying to remove it, so i cant just pack it in at this point. also, i broke a nice craftsman hook/pick set attempting this without success. is there a trick to get these out?
