I usually do them with the valve cover gaskets and cam adjuster seals. With the cam cover over, I just loosen the cam cap and pop the seal out with my finger.
Keep working at it, but be very careful not to scratch up the cam shaft or the new seal will leak like crazy.

Yes...you might have to loosen the camshaft cap to get the seal out...it's probably held in there tightly.

i finally got them out by using the drywall screw technique. i'm hoping to complete the job today.
does anyone have any tips/tricks/pointers/warnings?
i really appreciate everyone's help with this journey.
