Default I'm shopping for a used D70..they're gradually coming down as the D200 gets out on the market.

My coworker the next door over has a 70 and it does everything I want and more. If I have to, I could settle for a D50.
As with buying anything used, research what to look for...and price is always a driving factor. :P

Default The plastic DX lenses are just OK. I'll sell ya my 24-120 AFS VR if my 18-200 VR and 70-300 VR ever

show up! :-( Freakin perpetual backorders.

The D70 is a great camera if the price is right. Use the box-o-lens for a while and then upgrade. Great thing about DSLR, if you ougrow a lens, upgrade.

Default Pretty much my thoughts, a couple of others here at work have D70's but there ....

is also a strong Canon following.

I have always had Nikon and my brother has always had Canon so there is a bit of rivalry as to who gets the best results between us as well.

Default That is a great offer but I think postage to England might be a bit cost prohibitive. What....

is the image quality like using the standard lens and the DX range in general?

I have an old FA to sell with quite a range of lenses - 35-135, 100-300, 50-f1.2, etc.... I need to seel these before they are completely worthless as everyone moves over to digi.

Default Everything you ever wanted to know about photography and modern DSLR equipment

You can get lost in this guy's site for days. He's oft referenced by everyone in the field.

"It's sharp, focuses fast and silently and has instant manual focus override like all AF-s lenses. The distortion is fairly typical: barrel at wide, neutral in the middle and some pincushion at the tele end."

I assumed this lens was like the 18-55 and 55-200 kit lens' I got with my D50, but it's an AFS so it's fast and doesn't require switching the clunky A/M switch to go from AF to manual. Sounds like a nice lens for the price range actually.

Default BTW, many of the older 35MM lenses will work on the DSLR but you'll get vignetting

and the ones with aperature rings generally don't work. Read Ken's site for the best info.
