The dealer is telling me I need to replace both of my camshaft timing chain tensioners, and I was quoted 2K! Does this sound right? Does anyone have any suggestions?

when a new belt is fitted. The tensioner is spring loaded hydralically damped assembly that can fail. It should not be 2k, more like about $6-700 I would guess if the belt is changed at the same time.

He's talking about the cam CHAIN tensioner.
There's a chain that "times" the cams together that is "inside" the heads. The seals on these fail all the time and this is what he is talking about based on the price. These are also called cam tensioners or cam adjusters.
This a completely different item from the cam belt tensioner that you are talking about. $2000 is the usual dealer price for what he's talking about.

on my 2.8 30v. I did not think these secondary chains had a tensioner as they are so short.
Are they schdueled for replacement by mileage?

My Oettinger has beautifully machined gears at the cam belt end of the cams mounted on a vernier keyway, so you can adjust the timing between the two cams.

On the passenger side it's at the back, driver's side it's at the front.

#9 and #10 are the tensioners. 10A is the gasket set that leaks. From the picture it doesn't look like the best gasket set-up...two pieces.
