Can anybody explain why the steering is "light" when car is very cold...

Default Can anybody explain why the steering is "light" when car is very cold...

until the car gets going some. I am sure it has something to do with the viscosity of the steering fluid at that temperature, but I can't figure out why that would make the steering light. If anything I would think it would have the opposite effect.

I have a 2001 2.7t with the servotronic relay pulled.

I can't tell you why it happens, but I can tell you it is common.

My car does it, but to the right only, till it warms up. Servotronic getting tired, methinks.

Mine does it to, despite the fact that the relay is gone. Only lasts a few minutes though.

I wonder if there's a pressure valve that gets stick when it's cold or something.

Default I just noticed the same thing tonight with the wife's A6

was wondering what was going on. Thought last week's changing of the control arms had something to do with it.

It happens to me when after start up even when the car has been parked indoors (i.e not too cold)
