Can a faulty wheel bearing replacement cause CV joint boot leaks?
About a month ago, the wheel bearing on the front right side of my car (A6 4.2) was replaced. Today, I found out that the CV joint boot has ripped and is leaking grease. The other side has started to crack a bit and needs to be replaced as well.
My dealer also mentioned that all 4 brakes and CV boots need to be replaced, while a local tuner shop said the rear CV boots had no problems and the front brake pads still had 50% left! I'm not feeling very confident in the dealer. Would I be able to prove that the CV joint boot leak is a result of faulty wheel bearing installation?

Doubtful, all front outer boots rip over time and must be replaced
If the other one is cracked, it needs to be replaced also....the wheel bearing replacement could of caused it to rip because the axle was moved to extremes, but it was already a gonner then.

thanks, is it safe to drive the car for a couple days?
Dealer didn't say anything about the car not being safe to drive while the tuner shop said my CV joints could snap.
Now I know why there was grease on my wheels after I got the car back from the wheel bearing replacement.
I'm annoyed that both my tie-rods and CV boots fail AFTER Audi removes them from CPO warranty coverage.
