Default Can someone compare the tiptronic feel of an A6 compared to a Mercedes C230 Kompressor?...

Is the shifting crisper on an a6 compared to the 230. Does the A6 shift immediately or does it still have that automatic feel. Thank You!

Default Usually, you cannot feel the shifts. They are slightly slurred under most throttle

applications. When you move the peddle quickly, the shifts are more crisp, move slowly ( even if eventually flooring it ) and you will be hard pressed to tell when the shifts occur unless listening to the engine.

There is a computer that controls this. It has over 200 possible variations.

A good stickshift driver shifts so smoothly that you cannot feel it, just hear it.

Default Boy, is this question custom-made for me!

I just happen to have both cars.

The Merc shifts pretty hard, but then again it's a torque-monster.

The A6 accelerates slowly and smoothly and this is matched by the shifts. There's a lot o'slush in this slushbox, which suits the character of the car.

If you feel the need for speed, you'll have to DIY in the Tip gate. And don't forget, for max driving pleasure in-town keep the selector in "4" not "D".
