can the tip handle the torque of a 300hp chip upgrade?

The stage 1 or 2 upgrade yields approximately ~300+hp, but more importantly, 360-380 ft-lbs of torque. The torque figure is what you really have to keep an eye on since that's what's really being sent through your drivetrain where the tiptronic transmission is the weakest link. The ZF HP24 tiptronic is found on all A6 2.7T's, A6 4.2's, A8's and S4's. It was designed to handle about 350 ft-lbs. of torque. Chipping will test those limits to some degree but not to worry... I'm sure give or take a few foot pounds of torque can't hurt. Just look at all the S4 tiptronic owners who have chipped and added exhaust or downpipes to yield upwards of 340hp/385ft-lbs of torque... I haven't heard of a problem yet.

The tip is designed to take up to 420 Newtonmeters of torque, you should not go higher. It could damage your box.
If you use a chip from MTM, they will chip the gear box as well (not only the engine) to secure that the level of torque never exceeds 420 Newtonmeters.
