Default Can you help me out

I have a 98 A6 2.8 and i have a problem. when i go over bumps i hear a wicked thump in my frount right part of my car. i thought it was the suspention but it go's away if i hold the brakes when i go over something that i know will make my car make that noise.

Default Be nice everyone....

....Have your suspension looked at, its probably a bad control arm or tie end rod.

Control arm or seized tie-rod. maybe a sway end link.

Default Well, I had a noise like that when my front brake pads were very worn...

I thought for sure it was control arms or tie rod ends. Nope....

Bottom line, while faulty control arms or tie rod ends are very often the cause of front end noises, there are other possibilities as well. NO ONE can tell you exactly what is wrong by the noise. Until it is inspected, we are just guessing.
