Car didnt start this morning, it seemed like it wanted to crank over but...

Car didnt start this morning, it seemed like it wanted to crank over but...
It wouldnt. So I tried boosting it to no avail, I called a tow truck to tow it to the dealer. He got in the car and started it. He said I should have pressed the gas pedal. I did do that but it didnt work. I know it's cold here in NY and me living on the water doesnt help. What could it have been ? Should I still take it to the dealer? TIA..AA...

Did the engine turn over but not fire, or did it not even turn over?
If the started can crank the engine, but does not fire,, it may be flooded. If the dealer told you to press the gas, Did he tell you to press it to the floor and hold it there til the car fired?

I think so also. I just bought a new battery as well and everything else is OK.
Last time I drove it was last night coming home from work about 8pm. I went straight home about a 15min ride, parked the car and stayed in all night, this morning it just didnt start. Thanks for the input....
