My '99 Avant has the "Ambiente interior atmosphere" as Audi called it. (There were up to three "Audi atmospheres" available that year, depending on your exterior and interior color combinations. Each of these "atmospheres" came with different aluminum trim hues and wood trim finishing selections.

With the "Ambiente" version, you got the "Amber polished Vavona" wood trim. The '99 models also had the wood radio faceplate cover.

So, I've noticed that on newer A6 models, the piece surrounding the hazard light switch is also made with wood trim (mine is black plastic). I also saw an A6 last year with an all-wood shifter handle (mine is black leather).

OK, does anyone know if the 2000 and up A6 models hade choices of wood trim, and if so, what were they? Also, does anyone know which A6 or allroad models had the all-wood shifters, and if so, what kind of wood(s) were they?

IIRC, the wood shifter **** is available from the Audi accessory catalog
