Default Clear corners & stealth bulbs done!

Did my clear corners today! Also refinished my headlight lenses. Outcome is better than what I started with, but will require more follow-up work to get them nice and clear. All over, I‼sup>TMm satisfied with the outcome, and should be have better headlight projection now

Baking the headlights @ 250F for 3 minutes:

Lenses before:

Corners Before:

Lenses and Clear corners after:

And re-mounted on the car:

Note the stealth Bulbs.

All told, this was about 4 hours work. 2 Hours for dis-assembly-re-assembly and 2 hours for lens re-finishing and amber lens removal. By taking the lens off the light I was able to just pop the amber out.

Can you give a bit of detail on how you refinished the lens?

Default Micro-Mesh Headlight Repair kit

Purchased from Micro-Surface. Kit contains 4 pads with 8 progressively fine sanding surfaces. I paid about $20 shipped.

Can be re-used. The pads are very good quality, and appear almost unused after doing both headlights. Highly recommended.

I didn't spend as much time as I should have on mine and there's still some hairline marks, but overall I'm happy with the result. I'll re-polish them at another point to finish them up.

KIT

Default questions on dis-assembly and re-assembly

After heating in the oven, do the two halves just seperate? What is involved in the reassembly process? and what is the numbers for those bulbs?

some should really do a tech article on this mod.

Default WOW! Tom, that looks GREAT! Now I am sold on this mod...

I think I am going to clean the oven first (gotta do that anyway).

Going to the Ocean State Dubs meet at Colt State Park on Sunday??? I might try to head out there, but I would have to drag my son for the 3 hour round trip.

Default There's a good writeup on getting the nose and lights out...

I think from Stoney's links. I'll search around for it. I had printed it a couple weeks ago.

What's needed is a good light disassembly/ amber lens removal/ re-assembly writeup. Although, it was much easier than I expected.

I only removed the turn signal light and rear cover from mine, left low/ high beams in. Oven at 250 for 3 minutes did fine, 4-5 may have worked just a bit better to soften up the gunk more. For re-assembly I put teh lens and clips back on, then baked to let them settle together and re-seal.
