The local indie shop checked the old and installed a new battery. The service manager calls with the good news (only $200) but says that he cannot turn off the blinking climate control displays.
I ask, "What blinking climate control displays??" Then he gets defensive and offers to try to diagnose the new problem - for a fee. Nice.
I found a few hits searching AW but no solutions. Also, the readout is in Celsius now. Kind of cool, but I just wanted a new battery. Why, oh, why didn't I just go to Sears?
Thoughts? It's a the dreaded '98 2.8 with 88k if this helps. TIA.

To change temp readings between F and C simply hold in the recirculation button and then press the drivers side (I think) "+" button.
The attached link takes you to a long list of the things you can interrogate through the cliamte control system, although I am not sure this still works on the MY2002 and later cars.
As to the flashing it may be a simple case of resetting the system by disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting it after a short wait, otherwise it may be a trip to the dealer or someone with a VAGCOM

https://www.audiworld.com/tech/int6.shtml</a

You are going to need a VAG Tool to do it.

Here are the instructions...
