Default Color Combinations

I want to order a 2001 A6 4.2 in silver; but I do not know which interior color to choose. It is between satin black or tungsten gray leather. I have seen the silver/black combination, but has anyone seen or heard of people ordering the silver with tungsten gray?

Thanks

Default Yes, I've seen Light Silver Metallic / Tungsten Gray Leather (More)

These things are admittedly completely subjective, but I prefer the Tungsten Gray over the Satin Black (which, to the best of my knowledge, is still referred to as "Onyx" on the window stickers). It's a little less "harsh" (visually) and a little cooler (thermally!). A few other points for you to consider...

Satin Black comes in the "Ambition" atmosphere, while Tungsten Gray is in the "Advance" atmosphere. Besides the colors, the two atmospheres are different in other ways:

- Black "Ambition" leather is steerhide - rough texture; Gray "Advance" uses water buffalo - medium texture. (FYI, "Ambiente" uses very smooth and soft calfskin; on a silver A6, the available interior color combo is Vanilla/Royal Blue.)

- "Ambition" seats use vertical stitch pattern; "Advance" uses horizontal pattern.

- "Ambition" aluminum interior trim color is "graphite"; "Advance" is "titanium".

Both use the same dark brown polished burl walnut wood trim.

In addition, both use the same black instrument panel and upper door panels.

Finally, in the 4.2 ONLY the Tungsten Gray Advance interior comes with gray carpet (it's black in the 2.8 and 2.7T); all Ambition interiors come with black carpet.

I ordered my A6 in Racing Green pearl effect with Tungsten Gray leather having never seen the combination. (I'd seen the two colors, just not together). The first time I saw my car, I was blown away by how much I liked the colors together. Having lived with the Tungsten Gray for 4 months now, I'm glad I chose it.

Now for the real kicker...yesterday I saw a 2001 4.2 in Nemo Blue with Tungsten Gray leather. It's by far the best-looking color combo I've ever seen on any A6, bar none! Without a doubt, if I was going to get a 4.2, that's the combo I'd order. Of course, that the Nemo Blue is both exclusive to the 4.2 and a new-for-01 color means that you won't see it very often, either. Regardless of that exclusivity, though, the car was absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend checking it out before you buy.

Good luck in your decision process!
