Default I second this-had to have the windshield replaced again because

it kept leaking-thankgoodness insurance covered it again!
If you can save your original windshield I would recommend doing/trying that before replacing it.

Default I went through that too. Replaced twice, not before water damaged the ABS system...

Long story short, a simple windshield replacement ended up costing over $2500 (not a dime out of my pocket!).

Default Mine was replaced at the dealer...OEM...$700...

What pi**es me off it that it was cracked just below the passenger side wiper and the crack was noticed just a day or two after having a service done which included changing the wipers. I have now concluded that the tech dropped the wiperless wiperarm down on the glass which started the crack. The dealer claimed it was a road hazard (rock) even though it would have been impossible based on the angle and trajectory a rock would have had to travel to hit the windshield at that point...bottom line, I lost $700 for the tech's fugg-up.

Default Well, not the case with the Tacoma, WA dealer. I was informed by the dealer and the local repair...

shop that does the dealer's body repair work that they use subcontractors to replace glass. Procedure could be different in different regions of the USA.

Default BTW, that experience SUCKS. I've previously used Speedy Glass to replace my A6 windshield w/o....

any problems. The glass was a Pilkington windshield, made in Mexico. Fit was OEM, installation was top-notched. Glass replacement is like any other car repair - some shops are good, some are bad. Should seek out a good shop (dealer or other) based on references.

Default I think the problem is that "widebody" glass is longer.....

...but not wider. The glass was too short and the VIN window was in the wrong place.....

Yep, I think most use subs, but use OEM glass.......
