it kept leaking-thankgoodness insurance covered it again!
If you can save your original windshield I would recommend doing/trying that before replacing it.

Long story short, a simple windshield replacement ended up costing over $2500 (not a dime out of my pocket!).

What pi**es me off it that it was cracked just below the passenger side wiper and the crack was noticed just a day or two after having a service done which included changing the wipers. I have now concluded that the tech dropped the wiperless wiperarm down on the glass which started the crack. The dealer claimed it was a road hazard (rock) even though it would have been impossible based on the angle and trajectory a rock would have had to travel to hit the windshield at that point...bottom line, I lost $700 for the tech's fugg-up.

shop that does the dealer's body repair work that they use subcontractors to replace glass. Procedure could be different in different regions of the USA.

any problems. The glass was a Pilkington windshield, made in Mexico. Fit was OEM, installation was top-notched. Glass replacement is like any other car repair - some shops are good, some are bad. Should seek out a good shop (dealer or other) based on references.
