Default Considering buying a 2002 S6...does anyone know how much a third row seat would run?

Is it an accessory that can be installed in any 2002 S6? Is it a dealer-only item? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Default Agree and disagree.

Expensive, but not deadly.
Once you have a third row seat, you find out right away that it is far too small for anyone but children who should be in car seats.
So I say expensive and useless rather than expensive and deadly. ;-)

I have one, never use it, collecting dust in the garage, I would never put my child in it

Default I disagree. I think 3rd-row seats are deadly in general, unless your driving a large SUV.

The more space/material between your kids and the back of the car, the better.

Default I totally agree. Having had a Merc with a third row in quite a few years ago - we only used....

on about two occasions and it makes you really aware of what is behind you. You cannot drive as safely because you are contstantly watching to see there is no-one about to smack into your rear - so to speak.

Default You miss my point. Human beings cannot fit in the third row seat.

If no one sits there, no one gets hurt. It's simple.
By your "more material" logic, it actually helps the people in the back seat.

Default It's in the crush zone and too small for anybody over 8...

had it in the '03 Volvo wagon. Used it just a few times, and would only put my kids in it. Never felt comfortable with anybody back there, I've seen too many accidents where the back was pushed up to the second row seats. With the '07 Volvo, I made sure we didn't get it...

Thanks for all your responses. I no longer consider a third row seat as an option.
