Default Continental Tires

My 2001 A6 2.7T came with Continental tires (no PSK). Is that standard for non-PSK Audis? I'd never even heard of Continental tires before, and someone told me they're not exactly in the top echelon of tires. I just hope they're not part of the latest tire recall.....

Default Re: Continental Tires

They are a German company and fitted as standard to Audi, Merc and Porsche etc. They make good tires but the HR rated tires that come on the 2.7T are not what the car needs or wants. Get soem high performance tires as soon as you can. By the way, I just heard that some Continental tires fitted to SUV's have been recalled. What the government should do is recall the SUV's!!! You know that a large proportion of SUV's sold are 2 wheel drive. Whats the point?

I chuckle every time I hear that Audi sells the 2.7TT with the CH95 tires... they were OEM on my '96 A6Q and I have them now... they offer a soft ride and no grip, but they're cheap!! As Steve said, get a set of performance tires... ask around the Wheel & Tire forum, they'll give you the options.<p><img src="http://members.theglobe.com/muhammadc/msig1.gif">

Default Like Steve said. (Also)

Continental has a U.S. sub that makes tires. I think it's the sub's tires that are getting recalled. I'd assume Conti's on A6 are German made since that's were they ship from.

Default Mine are made in France.

Michelin does similar stuff; cars with Michelins may have tires made in Germany, France, USA, or Canada (among others).<p>'01 2.7T tip
