Default Control Arm Bushings.

Are all the bushings on our control arms replaceable? I'm looking at the parts list and it looks like they are. I STFA and some say they aren't. I'm only having a problem with the lower bushings. The pivot ends are still perfect after 55k. (I know I just jinxed myself). I don't want to go to the extra expense of getting new control arms.

Default Labor is the expensive part. If you were to take the arm off to change the bushing,

you may as well just replace the entire arm...

And the lowers are the less of the two evils.

Default Yes...

I mean, no.

Roughly $350 each parts/labor at my indie shop for the lower arms.

Default Oh yeah, you're right...

I was thinking of my OLD A6 where the bushings were designed differently and could be replaced.

Default Thats what Audi pays for under warranty now...

They no longer authorize arms unless the ball joint is bad...if its just the bushings they sell kits now to replace all the upper CA bushings.

Default

But how does one press the new bushing into a cast piece that has no ability to give?

Default Look closely at the arm, it has a metal sleeve that comes out with the bushing.

With the proper press tools they come right out. I see techs doing this repair all day long.

Default I see failed bushings all the time here in NJ

Perhaps our roads are worse than yours? (if that is possible, it may be)
