Default Control arm time again.

I took my car in for a roadforce balance and an alignment to try and remedy a high speed vibration and pulling to the right.

The roadforce balance went well; 3 "bent" wheels but I'm told that the "bends" are so slight that they're within tolerance and there's no way that I'll be able to feel anything from them.

Alignment didn't happen because they discovered that my right upper control arm is spent resulting in wheel movement. Off to Shine Racing we go and they think there's a chance that they can handle me TODAY! Gotta love a shop that's willing to squeeze you in on short notice.

In total, this will make it 2 control arms replaced within 95k miles. Not too bad considering the horror stories we've all heard about A6s and control arm replacement jobs.

I replaced mine at 75k and there wasn't much left of 'em.

Default Direct Tire in Norwood, MA

Direct Tire has the Hunter to do roadforce balancing and they charge $25 per wheel. According to the tech, the wheels ended up taking weights of:

LF: 16
LR: 16
RF: 2
RR: 24

they felt fine on the way to Shine Racing to get the control arm swapped out.

Default $25 per wheel to just RFB? Yikes!

I think I paid $35 per wheel for mounting AND RFB.

All 4 per side, or just the uppers? What fails, outboard ball joint ends? inboard bushings?

Default I did all 8 plus tie rod ends and swaybar end links....

A few had very loose/worn ball joints and all 4 lowers were starting to tear the inner rubber bushing.

While I was at it, I did the shocks too. 8-)

Cheers,
