I am having this and a few other things done by someone else, but he said he can't check the power steering until he fixes the water pump so the engine doesn't overheat. I'm having new cv joints on the front put on, new front brake line, new cam seals and tensioner, tires rotated, new high beam installed, and a new water pump and timing belt put on, after labor and parts my total to fix everything came just shy of $3k... a lot more then I was expecting when I thought it was just a broken hose.

Having the front end of the car open (service position) for the TB job will not help you with the power steering rack problems.

So power steering is something that would be done by itself? I also asked about getting a new t-stat put in but he said doing that is about 3 hours of labor plus the cost of the part, so I don't know if I'm going to bother getting that replaced if mine is still alright.

Don't pay for anything! Take it back to the place that fixed it 10K miles ago and have them fix it for you under warranty.

Have a nice day
Steve

Problem there is it wasn't done at a shop.

They said they could put in a new t-stat for $100, should I do that while I'm getting all this other stuff done?

Just to update, everything is fixed and running fine. The total came to $2750 for a whole mess of new parts and labor.
