Default Coolant temp sensor ?

My CEL came on last night, I started the car, drove fine. It seemed it cranked little more befor it started. I parked it overnite, this morning it wont start. I plugged my obII scanner it gave me a p1296 cooling module malfunctioning. I asssume temp sensor but I am not sure. I did a lot of research but I only found diy for 1.8t and 2.8 engines.
Any help is appreciated.

Default Which motor do you have?

2.7T and 2.8L and 3.0L are all basically in the same area.

Default Color and clip may vary..

The clip may be metal or plastic.
The color of the end of the sensor may be black or green.

Default Make sure you buy a new o-ring and at least one clip too.

The plastic clips shatter on re-use occasionally.
