At times my sunroof is way creaky when closed. Is there an easy fix or is a dealer visit necessary? Ashtray rattles when closed, no obvious cause. Any suggestions?

My 2.7t has just started to develop the same sunroof rattle. I had it to the dealer and they told me that AOA has no info on a correction for this problem or the common headliner buzz that I also have. If anyone here has any link or info on the cure for these problems please post it cause the noise is driving me crazy. It's kind of like the old water torture, not really bad enough to be obvious to the dealer but the drip, drip, drip ... gets real old after a while.

But no headliner buzz. I'll wait till my next service to get it checked. Sure hope they can fix it. I've installed the Audi/Eibach springs and thought they may have something to do with it, as the chassis is forced to flex more now when going over curbs and bumps, because of less suspension travel.

I'm getting it also, and it is clearly the rubber of the sunroof squeaking against the painted metal frame. The obvious solution is to lube it, with a silicone lube. But how? I don't want to overspray (or overgoo) anything else, so I want to separate the frame from the metal.
I'm thinking of popping it up to do the back 2/3rds, then opening it the normal way and trying to get to the front part.
Opening the sunroof and closing it again always fixes it, but that is a temporary fix. As the rubber dries more, it will be constant.

I think that people here have discussed one or two solutions. My 4.2 also had that problem, and the 2.7t I test drove buzzed also. One solution is to pull the light out carefully from above the drivers visor. (Pull from the left side.) The buzz seems to originate from an unattached clip towards the windshield. The proper solution is to get the clip to function, instead of buzzing unattached. I do not know the proper method to achieve this. (Anybody know?) Or, simply to insert a piece of foam forward of the light hole to keep the headliner from buzzing. Make sure the foam does not come into contact with the lightbulb, as it may ignite. You would think AUDI would address this! There is nothing like impressing your friends in a $50,000 car with a buzz that seems so simple to cure.

It started when I had them (intentionally mis-)align my sunroof in order to solve a wind noise problem. Of course, the day I took it in for service, there was no creaking whatsoever. I think the heat of the summer combined with me never opening the sunroof made it worse. I've opened the roof a little lately, and it comes and goes now. Maybe it will get better as the weather cools off. I know what you mean about the water torture...maybe we can call this "German sunroof torture". Try opening and closing it some...that could provide temporary solutions.

the vanity light buzz are two different things.
In any case curing the vanity light buzz is simple. Insert your ignition key or screw driver on the left edge of the light. It will pop right out. Notice the chrome clips and how they float in the plastic part. A little dab of silicone freezes the part in place.

and either masking off everything you don't want it on, or spraying the stuff onto a rag, then rubbing it into the rubber. The latter method worked for me on a squeaky door gasket.

occurs especially when backing over uneven surfaces as when backing out of my driveway into the (dished) alley in the morning. If I open the sunroof before this maneuver, there is no creaking noise, so it must be related to sunroof seals rubbing against glass/metal/etc.
Lubrication with silicone or other lube will probably help but will it last?
