Hi All
Firstly, I would like to apologize for my bad english.
I just bought an audi a6 c5 from 1997. The car has cruise control switches available. But they do not work, so I took the glove out to see if controle unit might be broken. But there is no control unit. is it possible that the car does not have cruise control although it has the switches? In that case, will it be possible to retrofit it from another car?
It is likely that the cruise module had a problem, and a previous owner removed the module, then decided not to spend the $$$ that a new module cost. My advice would be to borrow a module from someone who has one that works, and, if that fixes the problem, then to spend the money on a used or rebuilt module. The part number should be 4B0 907 305

thanks for the quick response. I think that an easy way to find out, is to see if the car has a cruise vacuum pump. but I do not know the location? is there anyone who can tell me where it sits along? Maybe with a picture. If the vacuum pump is present, then there must indeed have been in cruise control.
I have attached the pertinent pages from the service manual for a car with the AHA engine. It might also help if you take a picture of the options sticker in the spare tire well and attach it. One of the option codes may be a cruise control code.
there is no vacuum pump. the former owner has probably just shift the arm on the steering wheel. at least, there has probably never been cruise control in the car.
