Default Cylinder bank angle on the 2.7 and 2.8 engine?

I was off looking at a web site describing the VW W12. For the engine, it described the cylinder bank angle as 72 degrees and derived from a "narrow-angle VR6 engine". Is this the same engine as our beloved 2.8 and 2.7? Is the angle the same? More generally, does anyone know of a good reference on engine balancing such as why an inline four can be rough and a V12 smooth as silk? Thanks!

http://formen.ign.com/news/11363.html

Default Seek and find...

I started searching around a little more and found a very interesting site with lots of technical information. It answers my engine balancing question. However, what is the cylinder bank angle for the 2.7 V6?

AutoZine Technical School

Default

Not at all the same...2.7 and 2.8 are both 90 degree V-6's.
