Damaged boot on front driver's side wheel. Consequences???

Re: Have the boot replaced ASAP, or you'll end up needing a new joint as well....
it seems to have grease or some kind of lubricant on it, more towards the driveshaft side. though it doesnt sppear to be torn.

turn the wheel hard to one side to see the tear. If that doesn't work, turn the wheel hard to the
other side. Also look on to and bottom-if it is like mine, the tear doesn't need to be very big nor wide - just a slit, maybe 1.5" long, in one of the creases in the boot.
