Default I am fairly sure that you must consent to any work, but..

I doubt that you would have much recourse. I am always asked to sign something stating that I consent to the work being performed on my car even though it is under warranty. I think that generally the dealers are fairly lax about getting everything signed off, or even a phone consent, when the work is at no cost to the owner. Most owners simply do not complain when the work is free. I suspect that if you pushed the issue you could get the dealer to remove the new senders but you probably couldnt't collect any other damages in this case. Of course they should fix the paint if they damaged it but that would be true in any case.
