I don't see any reason why an RS-8 wouldn't perform just as well as an RS-6. I believe that the A8 is even a little less front heavy than the A6 4.2 so handling might be even better. If you look at the specs. for cornering Gs the BMW 740il is actually better than the 540 due, I suspect to the better front rear weight balance, maybe the same for the A8 vs A6 4.2.
I have been toying with the idea of getting an A8/S8 and supercharging it (plus some other mods). The A8 has always seemed a more logical car than the A6 4.2 due to the almost identical weight (I guess because of the aluminum body) but more interior space. I really loved the rear legroom on my 740il and it is the only thing I miss from that car vs. my A6. If we didn't care about room we could all go out and buy Corvetts or M3s and as much as I think the rear seat room is OK on the A6 I still feel my kids bumping into the back of my seat.
I would love an RS-8 if one is made although the RS-6 sounds great.

Have been talking with a few Audi employes (UK) and they reckon that RS8 could happen... it may contain the W10/W12? from lamborgini?
Expect well over 500bhp! Cost .. well over £100,000.. what's that?.. $180,000?.. too high for me.. RS6 will do me thank you very much!

April issue of Automobile is claiming an Audi two-seater biased on the new Lamborghini! With either a V-10 or a TT V-8 in the 450 Horsepower range. If they keep the weight down should be Damn fast and fun to drive!

Do the Recaros have more cushion to them? Must admit that my back didn't feel great after about 90 minutes in the sport seats of the 2.7T and 4.2.They felt too stiff and unforgiving. Never have had any problems with the non-sport seats in my 2.7T (except feeling that they were way too loose fitting when I've taken the car into the track;which I don't do too often).

Although I'm only 6 ft tall, I liked the extra lateral room in the driver's seat area of the S8. My right knee rubbing up against the side when I drive over 45 minutes becomes distracting.

Have never sat in them myself...but generally, I find, the more supportive and firm they are, the more comfortable I am. Big, cushy seats generally lack support and become uncomfortable after a short time...YMMV

The seats in the non-sport 2.7T feel very comfortable to me. How are the Recaros different than the sport seats in the 2.7T and 4.2?
