So I was doing some brake work and I forgot the rear caliper was off and I stepped on the brakes. As you can imagine the peddle went to the floor. Obviously the rear caliper spitting out fluid as it was fully extended. Is this an easy fix for my mechanic (I have since taken it off) or did I really screw myself?

should be able to re-insert the piston... i popped the piston out of the front caliper when i was removing the axle and had someone step on the breaks so i could break the bolts forgetting i had removed the brakes and rotors(for replacement)

Nope..just remember to twist the piston as you insert it in the bore...it has to 'catch' on the adjustment screw for the emergency brake.
Make sure the dust boot can rotate on the piston...I use a small screwdriver or pick to get under the boot and run the pick/screwdriver blade around the groove in the piston and ensure it's free. If you don't do this and the boot is glued or stuck onto the piston you WILL rip the boot.
I have several cars with the rotating rear brake caliper piston...this tool makes installing new pads a snap.

I did buy one of those tools and it seems to be working fine! Thanks for the help! It is leaking a tiny bit from the banjo bolt. Is that a crush washer I should have replaced?

Yes, but you may also be able to just torque it 1/8 turn more. Alternatively, remove the banjo bolt and heat/anneal the copper washer(s). Or just get new washers OEM.
