RTM! It's called GALA and can be adjusted. I never cared for it so I shut it off. On my wife's Merc it was very abrupt and annoying and required snipping a wire to deactivate.

My wife just got a '99 without the manual but we have one on order. Is this feature on all models/years/packages?
If so, how do you adjust it? Is it just sunroof or windows also?

GALA can be adjusted as a whole.
Keep pressing 3 channel while switching on the radio(Cant remember well - can be 1, 2 , 4 6 also - 5 I remember is Graphic eq).
Put it on 2 or 3
Other options can be set by pressing TA while switchong radio on
