Default The tip chip does not change the engine's power.. There is an engine chip for that..

the tip chip works only on the transmission.

Default GIAC is a company that makes the chips... a tip chip is for an automatic tranny..

it increases the idle torque and speeds up the shift times... when you hear of people talking about giac, apr, revo, oct, ams chips, those are typically ECU chips. If you have an automatic, I would highly recommend a tip chip as it helps get rid of the "sloppy" A6 shifting.

please clarify:
tip chip 1. does not increase hp
2. to feel difference, have to be using tip mode right
3. costs?

engine chip: 1. examples are giac, apr
2. same thing as ECU chip
3. increase hp ( by how much)
4. costs?

Default tip chip does not have to be in tip mode to work..its called a tip chip because the auto tranny's

are mostly Tiptronic's. It work's in both modes. A GIAC Tip Chip costs about $250 for the 2.8 and $400 for the 2.7T

Engine chip produces about 10hp in a 2.8 and up to 60hp in a 2.7T, a GIAC Engine Chip costs about $300 for a 2.8 and $595 for a 2.7T

both prices taken from awe-tuning.com

check prices for other engines yourself.

Note: there ARE cheaper chip combinations

Th Giac Tip CHip does not increase HP. WOrks in both modes.
The Giac ECU chip is around $595

THe Giac Tip chip is $400 when purchased by itself and $300 when purchased with an ECU chip.

These prices are for the 2.7T model, I do not know if different $$ for 2.8 model.

Get both the ECu and Tip chip. Change your exhaust, will breath better, and lose a couple pounds.
Where are you located?
