Difficulty trying to accelerate smoothly from a stop
Anyone experience difficulty trying to control acceleration when starting out from a dead stop? From time to time I get an excessive surge of power from a very light foot. When this happens in heavy traffic, I often have to hit the brake to avoid running into the car in front. The sensation is as if the accelerator pedal were sticking (which it is not).

Need more info to help but might try and check the following...
Since this is under warranty you should just take it to dealer but if you want to do some snooping on your own... Try
1. Do a Throttle Adaptation. The throttle is all electronic (not physically connected) and it is necessary to calibrate/sync throttle pedal to the actual throttle. I will assume you don't have VAG software, if so use it. Otherwise you can do it this way.
- engine should be cold
- turn key to the fully on position without starting motor
- leave in that position for 60 sec
- start motor, let idle for 2 min.
- do not touch gas pedal during this process
Then go take it for a drive and see if things are better.
If not you could have a problem with BPV, TBB or any area that might leak boost. Even a loose clamp. To trouble shoot these things you really need VAG software and laptop. With that setup you can take your car out and log the activity(s) you suspect and check to see if you are getting proper values.
You didn't give us much to go on.. if there are more to the symptoms, such as noise, hot or cold motor etc it might help. If you are in SoCal I would be happy to run Vag Software to try and diagnose the origin.

Look for the following:

- A6 2000-2001 Tip problem details: jerk, lag
- Description of 2001 2.7T transmission jerkiness
...and possibly more in Stoney's FAQ/Transmission Section: <a href="http://www.netwiz.net/~jds/files/a6_links.html#transmission">here</a>.
