Default Dimming Mirror Question

Lately, I've been question if my outside mirrors' auto dimming feature is working.

The rearview mirror dims fine. I've sat in the car, and put my fingers on both sensor to get the appropriate dimming results. It's very obvious when it changes, and it happens rather quickly. My exterior mirrors don't seem to change at all when I do that.

Do they use the same sensors as the rearview mirror? Has anyone else seemed to experience this?

As always, any comments appreciated!

Default Hate to differ with an expert, but I had the moon roof package on my '98 A6, and there were no...

dimming outside mirrors. Wasn't listed in the brochure, nor on the window sticker. They made their debut on the A6 with the '99 model year---A buddy of mine got them with his '99 A6. Sorry to disagree.

Default Page 26 of the Owner's Manual says they should...

I'm not disputing what you have or have not had, but according to the owner's manual they should dim.

I have the warm and cold weather packages, if that matters.

I could've sworn they worked once, but wouldn't wager anything on my memory...

Looks like I'll just have to ask service when I'm in for the next visit.

I'm with April. My 98 2.8 (very late production) had dimming outside mirrors

Default OK, so next related questions.

Possibly, I have them.

1) What would make the outside not work, when the inside one does work?

2) Is there any way to find out what features are on the car via the VIN#? Audi USA site takes my vin displays my car and tells me where it was made, why not more, eh?

Anyone, Anyone?

Have the service dept look up the vin#. If info is not readily available, they can obtain it for you
