Do 225/45/17 snow tires fit on a 4.2

Need winter tires and saw these on ebay. Also whould you buy them?
Have a 2001 A6 4.2 and have extra 17 wheels.

Outside diameter seems equivalent to the stock 255/40 setup. It's actually a good idea to go with a narrower tire for winter. I wouldn't pay more than $200 for them. Even if they were only used for one day, it involves a whole bunch of risk that you don't have if you buy from TireRack.

Although they'll fit a 8" wide rim, their load rating is only 91 (1356 lbs). The 255 40 17 tires that are OEM have a 94 load rating (1477 lbs). OK for a 2.7T, but not for a 4.2.
