Do OEM changers have "audi" or the 4 interlocking circles displayed on the unit? (more)

To get the changer's residual value included in my lease my salesperson indicated that the model should be OEM. I am guessing that the Stratmosphere and the Autotoys units say Panasonic on them. Can anyone confirm this information.

Get the Clair one. The Stratmosphere and AutoToys are similar units with an adapter. They are not quite equivalent to the one you get from Audi.
The Clair one is the same one as from Audi, including the connector and full functionality. Mine did come with the Audi rings on it, but I don't know that that is guaranteed.
I believe the Clair one is cheaper also.

http://www.clairparts.com/</a

It's $199.00 including shipping and tax and is an 8-disc vs. a 6-disc changer. There has occasionally been a post or two on this and inevitably the comment always arises about how the one from Autotoys:
1.) Doesn't work because it's not OEM headunit compatible OR
2.) How you can't get to the 7th and 8th disks (you can't like disks 1-6 by pushing the console button but you can by using the disc advance ">" button on the wheel).
Both of these misconceptions are incorrect. I installed the one from Autotoys in my A6 and it works like a charm. It doesn't however have the Audi name or rings on it.
Good luck,

2001's and late 2000's don't have them. You truly cannot access discs 7 or 8 except by going to the end of disc 6 and letting it advance itself.
Note that blue 2.7 doesn't even have his car yet, so he will not have the arrows.

Steve,
You are absolutely correct. That said, I'd still advise the the one from Autotoys. Just don't put a disc in the 7th or 8th slots and you have the 6-disk changer but still at the $199 price. I'll admit, it does take away one of the nice features for this one though. I love the extra 2 disks.
