Default I too have seen the posts of those who "wish" this car...

...went into production and how they "cant understand why" it did not make it. You are essentially correct; the concept was a gadget showcase for audiphiles to gawk at. It was never meant for production.
Please exuse my direct and somewhat crass way of posting. I am somewhat fed up with those who profess to know all the reasons why this concept or that was made when they have no idea what goes on inside the studio or the boardroom.
All I try to do is give some perspective from someone who is involved with automotive design to an otherwise myopic discussion.

Default Forgive our youthful frivolity. "Wishing" a car went into production is naive...

... when it is clear that the fulfillment of that wish could mean financial pain and failure. But we're just kids here! (Some of us 40+ year old kids.)

As a designer, you know that economics is behind everything. Even if Chrysler loses money on every Viper, they can justify it by pointing to revenue on other models that sell better because of the Viper mystique.

Default Yeah, I have no problem with the Pacifica...

I don't know if it will survive...if it doesn't it will be apparent quickly, unlike the death of the Prowler which took a few years for people to get over the hype then they realized they were driving a cartoon car. The Pacifica obviously isn't so 'outlandish' as the Prowler was, but I'm just not sure if anyone will want it (in relative terms, that is). It's ok to me, but I wouldn't want one.

Default Is this kind of tone really called for?

If you want to play mean, there are other forums that will gladly accept and beat you. We don't do that around here (except when no.radar forgets to take his meds).

Default Think from the perspective of someone needing three rows of seats.

My wife drives a minivan and hates it (it is the pinnacle of function, but there's not much image behind it). With the kids and other needs, three rows is mandatory for now.

Acura/Honda have done a nice job of disguising a minivan as an SUV. Volvo just did the same. Chevy/GMC stretched the Tahoe/Jimmy to create a 3rd row. Exploder and Aviator are OK but smallish inside. And then there are the monsters (Expedition).

The Pacifica is attractive and appears to be roomy. I'd buy it in a heartbeat (although the wife has issues with buying a Chrysler).

I just wanted some feature trickledown...not interested in seeing Audi actually build 'this' car.
