No. Wrong offset. Need a minimum of 10mm spacers. Why put any A4 wheels on A6 4.2?

Default They fit fine, no spacers needed ....

I have them on my 2.7T but I would think on the 4.2 you would want something a little wider so you could run the larger 255 or 265 tires.

You can see them on my 2.7T if you look at my picture poster.

Off set is greater than stock, spacers would only make them stick out even more.

Default Learn how offset works, before posting.

A4s have a 45mm offset vs 35mm for A6 4.2.
Greater offset means the wheels sit further IN, not OUT. The smaller offset the more wheels stick out. The reason for 10mm spacers is to make a 45mm offset wheel to be like a 35mm one.
Wheels will not fit without spacers no questions about it.

Default They could work. Offset is the difference between the wheel

centerline and the wheel mounting surface. If the wheel is narrower, you need different offsets! In this case you need the wheel width.

I have 16" 2.7T wheels that fit on my S6 (for winter). Yes the offset is more but is a 16X7 wheel as opposed to the 17X8.

the 02 A4 sport package has a 7.5" width wheel. I don't know the offset. If it is 45mm (as posted earlier. You have 1 cm more offset from the center. but the wheel is 1.25 cm narrower. So in effect the real difference is 1.25/2=.625 cm (the extra width on one side of the wheel) - the offset difference. So your tire will be .375cm closer to the strut. Maybe it will fit

offset calculator

Default My wheels are also the old A4 sports package. (see sig)

So you see, there are reasons that one with an A6 would use A4 wheels after all.

Default It is not only that tire will be closer to the strut. The main problem here is that

the shape of A4 wheel, as seen from inside around mounting area, will not clear huge 4.2 calipers, hence the reason for spacers to provide needed clearence. Smaller spacers, 5mm or 8mm, could work, but I do not see weels fit without any at all.

Default Good point. My old A6 Avant snows wouldn't fit on the S6.

I found it had to be a wheel at least for the 2.7T that would clear the calipers.

The question was about A6 4.2 specifically, quite different than just A6.
