Does anyone know what causes a car not to hold its idle?
lately, and only in park, the rpm bounces around quite a bit...down to 600 and back to 1000 etc. Otherwise runs great. Not a big deal?

Dirty ISV (might be IAC valve on the 2.7T)... possibly faulty.
You can clean them out, or replace them. Not sure of the procedure. It's relatively inexpensive.
FYI...
ISV = Idle Stabilizer Valve
IAC = Idle Air Control
