Airbag

is this possible ? when I pull away i hear a clunk in my driver door area. When i open the door and pull away it doesn't do it . closer inspection reveals thet when the door is barely opened it movs up and down about a quarter inch at the handle end when lifting it. open it further and that big *** spring stel tightens it up and it doesn't do it .
I think my hinge pin is worn or the bracket is . Any way I can replace the hinge pins ? that big piece of steel that is tensioning it looks ike it would stop me .. anyone done this .. the car has 350,000 km on it ..
