We really don't have any "problems" with our relationship. I guess she just thinks its stupid not to slam a door, like its an unreasonable request. So no one there has had anything bad happen to their car from people slamming the doors?

Show her how a simple push shuts the door just as effectively without all of the (reason
wear and tear that a slam adds.
Really though, I don't see why you should have to present a dissertation on the topic..."just don't do it."

It's a mechanical device with certain design peramteters built into the latch and spring. Crappy American cars usually have a pretty low tolerence, so slamming is required to close the door. Most German cars do require some force, but you don't need to slam, if you follow through instead of just releasing the door like a bowling ball. Same goes for trunk and hood. Use no more force than required to complete the action. Excess force results in excess wear and tear over the long term. It's pretty simple - whether the door and latch can handle it - still does not mean that damage is not happening.
I cringe when people slam the doors on my car, and make a note to either mention it to them, or not invite them to ride in my car again.

He said to imagine that we were riding in a car going at speed - if he jammed on the brakes suddenly, we'd all be jolted and shaken up. If he braked gently, we'd hardly notice a thing. Same thing for doors.
If we had guests who rode in the car and slammed the doors, we got to hear some choice words after they left ;-) Same goes for house doors and walking on the ***** of your toes, and not your heels - we lived on a boat for a while, so the sound would carry. People are always accusing me of sneaking up on them ;-)

I thought I have read somewhere that the metal in the inner door stampings is aluminum. This would help explain the lighter weight and finer balance of the Audi doors. If it is true, the strength should still be there, but her actions should be a matter of respect for your stuff. I hate it when someone slams my door and explain to them that it is not necessary because they are built better.

He should tell her to have some, though the term baffles most people. She's not likely to get it, nor care if she's demanding "reasons"....how aggravating.
