You may be able to find one local for same or less.
You could also do a 6 spd conversion. Not sure of cost, but others may know.
It depends on the condition of the rest of the car and how much you like it as to how much you should spend. You could do the used tranny and sell the car and end up with more $$.

You could probably sell the car to someone looking for a project car to do a 6MT swap into for more than you'd get as a tax deduction. Heck there are a few breakers on this site and Audizine that would likely buy from you, especially since it's a Cali car and therefore would be rust free.
