That would be perfect for an Audi meeting/drive... start in Tucson at 2,700' and wind your way up to Loma Linda @ 8,000'. Whew time to give the Audi a rest (no I mean time to give my tired leg a rest). Step out of car... jeez it is cold (only 75°?) ... back down to Tucson on the same winding road, only the car has much more power =) ... ahh there we go 97° and sunny, again.
Unfortunately, they have speed traps on the road meaning... well it takes some of the fun out of it having to keep your eyes peeled. And plus the weekend it is a little crowded and I had to pull off to let a few packs of cars pass so I could take the corners at a little better pace. But the fater you go the faster you slow down... try taking one of those 20mph curves @ 50 when the shoulder is mountain rock, and the uh other shoulder is a 500' drop. =) Yesterday it was pretty much empty, but I didn't go all the way up because of construction.
Well worth the trip if you are ever in Southern, AZ... remember to bring your camera (and a parka if later in the year... with wind it can be cold) and open your sunroof (if not that cold) ... it is a lot of fun, and more so with an Audi!
