OK, so wifey lost her only key. She's recovering from verbal abuse now. Stealer wants $200 per key plus $115 to program/cut.
I can get 2 used keys on E-bay for $80 that have the correct immobilizer chip and uncut blades.
So my question is..........will the dealer give me any crap if I bring these in to be programmed/cut? Car is an 04 A6.
Thanks.

...and you'll have less hassle from the dealer to program it. I believe they come pre-cut from the factory (with the VIN), and the car has to be hooked up so the immobilizer is programmed to recognize the key.
Most dealers will NOT cut a key for you...and many will not program a key for you unless you buy the part from them.
There is no way around this unless you have a cooperative dealership. Best of luck!

you can call your dealer and ask but they probably won't cut them. The blanks sold on eBay are made from a very cheap steel-- not factory material. Guys don't like to cut them because they really wear down their cutting tips.
That said, my dealer did cut my eBay key, programed it, and didn't charge me a dime. I felt lucky. But you have an immobilizer so there will be much more involved. Remember, everything is negotiable. Paying list price for anything from a dealer is ridiculous. Make an offer-- there is so much markup in those items they just might accept it.
