e85 tune?

e85 tune?
I just found out about jfonz's e85 tune. I am very interested (why can't I ever leave "good enough" alone?) I asked my mechanic about e85 and he immediately said "don't do it! your fuel system is not designed for e85 and won't work with that high an ethanol content".
So, like the good researcher I am, I immediately started searching. It seems that the opinions are widely mixed (as can be expected). I've read that e85, if you have a car that was manufactured within the last 20 years, should have no problem withstanding the higher ethanol fuel. The rubber compounds that make up the fuel system have been designed not to degrade. The ethanol, supposedly, contains more water particles than gasoline and therefore encourages internal rust to form much more quickly.
Does anyone have an educated response or perhaps actual experience with using e85 in a gasoline designed car? My mechanic is very qualified, but worked at a dealership for many years and tends to go ONLY "by the book". Tuning is just the opposite of "by the book", but (as many on here know) often yields fantastic results.

I'v run E85 on my Evo. Never had a problem and ran it for 2 years before I sold it. All that I did on that car was Larger 1000cc injectors. and a walbro 255lph fuel pump and a tune. Now I am not sure on the Audi, Its a little bit different.
But running it. Never had a problem with seals, O-rings, lines, or the tank it self.
I have had numerous friends run it on there cars, Hondas/Evos/ Subarus and no one has ever had a issue.
People say that it will damage line and motors. Yes it will. if you dont get tuned for it.
E85 requires alot more fuel to burn and combust so when you add it to your car you will not have enough and on a turbo'd car it is very bad cuz you will be VERY lean.
With a proper tune, right size injectors, pump, you will be good. But where I am/was there is not alot of places that sell E-85. So be concious about that. I carried a 5Gal Jug with me EVERYWHERE I went when I ran it.
I have been stuck a few times in the Evo, waiting for a friend to brin fuel cuz I cant just fill up on 91Octane.
Gas Milage suffers for City Driving. as you burn more, for more power.
Also When running E85 the Exhaust will smell like vodka. Its weird to get used to it. and I also belive it can still be a tax deduction . I know it was 5 years ago when I switched to it.
Just my little 2Cents.

HHO might be up your alley
AKA "hydroxy gas" almost makes more sense to stretch regular gas "the low grade cheap blend" giving more performance and mpg vs e85, I've been reading about this for the past eight years have a few plans but have yet to find the time to make one or buy a kit to install on my service van that averages 16.5 mpg in the summer and 14.5 in the winter when I could potentially see a modest 25 to 35% mpg gain maybe more.
These kits also interface with the ecm to adjust fuel trim based on the o2 sensor data because that 14:1 ratio is not the same with a combined hydrogen/gasoline burn.
Wonder if anyone has done this on an Audi.

I'm perplexed with your reply, water is only one part
This concept has been around for years and has been done with real concrete proof of power and mpg gains combined with gasoline, the stigma of BS is so far from the truth when you research the concept with an opened mind.
As a very bright member on this forum that you are, I'm in disbelief that
your "Green and EPA" views and comments have not embraced the extreme low emissions from HHO.
Save the corn for feed, people are starving in this world and I don't trust GMO technology.
