Removing lower and upper oil pans on an AVK...removing the starter as per the bentley. Bentley says remove heat shield from solenoid and unscrew the two bolts. Bottom bolt comes out just fine but when I went to remove the upper one, all i see is what looks like the tip of a threaded bolt looking at me. Thought it might not be threaded so I tried to remove starter after removing first bolt -- not budging.

Anyone ever remove the starter off an AVK that can confirm the existance of two bolts? I suppose a previous owner/mechanic could have cracked off the bolt and just left it there...if they did, the break was pretty clean -- doesn't look cracked...

Pics attached. Second one shows the top bolt in between solenoid and starter.

Try from the other end.
The bolt goes through the bellhousing and block into the starter.
