still hear a grinding sound when the engine is cold at about 2600-2900 rpms. its not the oil....checked it~ what could it be??

water pump, a/c, p/s. alternator, or the tensioner/idler. If that is what it is, then it shouldn't be an arm and leg, but it won't exactly be cheap. Depending on the miles on the car, it might be worth doing the timing belt and water pump at the same time. You can look up what people have paid for the timing belt service, and may have to adjust for any extras that need done.
