Engine removal problem- it is stuck!

It was a very fun car to drive, and although I can repair almost anything on it, time is not on my side. I needed a car so went out and bought a brand new one. What I get from parting out the A6 should cover 5 to 6 months worth of car payments, as compared to the $250 that a local wrecking yard offered me to tow it away! Maybe this motor is worth something to someone - but I doubt it is worth much. I can see the shiny half-circle valve indentations on top of the pistons on the right side through the spark plug holes. It did lock up at idle in the driveway though...

u did remove the ground strap and positive battery cable? i just did this 2 weekends ago. parted a 2.7t a6. hit that drive shaft end with a mallet till it comes off. mine did the same thing driveshaft was stuck to the flange. i also removed the entire subframe since i was junking it

Thanks, I finally got it. Yes, everything was disconnected (well almost everything - there were a few harness connectors still attached), but that wasn't what was preventing movement forward. You were right that the drive line was stuck. I removed it from the rear diff first and had to whack it hard with a big hammer, and then repeated on the front with a lot of PB Blaster spray first.
