Default Erratic coolant temp gauge.

I've searched the postings to no avail. Has anyone experienced a coolant temp gauge that jumps from dead cold "C" to the middle rather erratically? It acts like a bad sensor/sender.

Default I have had two temp senders replaced

It also fixed my rough idle when cold. Never threw out any error codes, and couldn't get it to do it at the dealership. Finally took a picture of it with my digicam, withe the oiltemp up, and the date and time from the dash display, e-mailed it to the SA, and brought a printed copy for the tech.

Default Thanks. Guess I'll have to buy a digital camera!!!

Isn't it amazing that the customer is presumed to be lying unless proven otherwise?

Default I recently had the IDENTICAL problem.

Gauge would start out acting normally, would hit normal 12 o'clock position after a few minutes of running. Then, it would cycle back and forth between normal and full cold every few minutes of driving. Once it started moving, it would take anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds to move all the way to full cold or back to 12 o'clock. Does this sound familiar?

My dealer replaced the sensor under warranty, and the problem has not reappeared. I'm wholly confident that the sensor was the problem, because before getting it replaced my gauge would malfunction every time I drove the car. Yours should be an easy fix.

Default Does it only do this when the engine is cold or warming up??

Might also be a faulty thermostat not opening fully properly..

Default Not exactly...

I think it could have been a coherent tri-phasic pulsed anti-neutrino beam they used from a distance to cause the damage and lure me in to make a few extra bucks.

Well no, they broke it somehow during scheduled maintenance which included "polishing" the rotors. No idea how it happened.
