Default Error codes say engine running lean, NEED HELP ASAP!!!

Hey all I have a 2000 A6 2.7T with 87k on it and the check engine light came on. I had it looked at by an Audi dealership and they said it was the turbo bypass valves. I went to my mechanic becuase he doesnt charge $80 an hour and he said that the error codes came of that both banks were running lean. So I got new 710N's from www.ecstuning.com and installed them tonight. Low and behold the check engine light is still on. I have tried to restart it over 12 times to clear the memory but the light is still on. Does anyone know what is wrong becuase its now the weekend and there are no shops open and I need to drive it back to school (I am a college student). Any and all help greatly appreciated.

Thanks all!!

Default You can start it a hundred times and the fault won't clear if it is a hard fault.

Clear it with VAG-COM, Pro-Diag, or the dealer interface.
Then see what happens.

Default unplug the ECU and it will clear.. or have someone VAG COM it and clear the code

and usually if that does fix the problem, the CEL doesnt necessarily go away immediately...

Yes. But you will need to reset tons of other stuff. Clock, radio code, etc

Would unplugging the battery clear the fault?

Default Yes. And the radio code, and maybe the remotes would stop working...

Kimchee has a good response; better than dsconnecting the battery.

I have never heard of the remotes to stop working from a battery unplug. Ive done a swap before and my remotes always work. I have the code for the radio so I am not worried about that. Plus I really dont want to screw around with the ecu at all. But do you think that the engine is going to be hurt at all?

Default No...another option, find someone with an universal OBD II reader and have them clear the code...if

it was the BOV's and you have replaced them, then nothing bad will happen to the car. If you need a quick fix for clearing the light find a Universal OBD II reader and clear it.
