FYI - "borrowed" a yaw rate sensor from a friends A6 and used it for 2 days ....not a murmur from the ESP system . Put old sensor back in and within 5 mins it played up

did it trip the check engine light on you? how did effect your drive?

No , didnt trip the "engine" light , symptoms were the same as an actual ESP activation , basically the Yaw Sensor was telling the ecu to activate the ESP as it had gone outside parameters !

Driving along the M25 at 75mph , nice and smooth and the ESP cuts in for a few seconds with flashing "ESP" light on instrument cluster , then returned to normal . Happened regularly , didnt matter what road , rough or smooth , or what speed !
